Mount Wilson

Mount Wilson, an historic garden village in the World Heritage Blue Mountains is only 2 hours from Sydney. The mountain is renowned for its grand exotic gardens, some of which are open to the public. The area also boasts magnificent natural bushland, rainforest and canyons.

Mount Wilson is an isolated village that lies one thousand metres above sea level. The humidity and salt air of the coast are not part of the local microclimate. The rich volcanic soil of the mountain was left by ancient basalt lava flows. Mount Wilson, and nearby Mount Tomah, are two of the most well known basalt caps in the Blue Mountains.

A visit to Mount Wilson should be an unhurried experience. There are no shops or restaurants in the village. Cook's House, at Hawthorn, is a place for relaxation; a place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
